Chemicals Used On Golf Courses Can Enter The Desert Ground Water

Fitz: Pure Elements, the man who has that crystal clear water on the phone with me this morning. Happy Monday Rick.

Rick: Happy Monday Fitz. How are you this morning?

Fitz: I’m trying to wake up man. It’s been one of those…Sometimes on Mondays it’s just a little tough to have all the cylinders firing at one time you know.

Rick: I’m with you on that.

Fitz: Rick you have been spreading the education about what’s happening with our water, the water system, what kind of water you get from your tap water which is not good stuff and we love our crystal clear home water filtration system. I always remark, “Never take it for granted that we can drink worry free from any faucet in our home including the bathtub faucet.” Which is pretty amazing but today we’re going to talk about golf courses.

Palm Desert golf courses use recycled water can leech weed chemicals back into the ground water

Rick: Yeah, I thought I’d just spend a couple of minutes for your listeners. We’re just trying to do everything that makes people aware of all the different things that happen with water. We’ve got you know roughly 125 golf courses in the Coachella Valley which is quite a big number and obviously it takes quite a bit of water to keep those guys green. I just wanted to chat a little bit because along with keeping them green obviously comes some chemicals and things. Most of our golf courses in the valley are watered with either reclaimed water or imported water. Where in our drinking water situation we’ve got the ground water from the aquifers but…

Fitz: Imported water you mean Pellegrino or Perrier?

Rick: Not quite.

Fitz: Had to say that Rick.

Rick: Yeah I love that. There is a lot of controversy about what’s being used to abate weeds, to keep everything nice on the greens and keep them up to par and they some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world for sure. A couple of the things that get used though are the dreaded Roundup which has a chemical in it called Glyphosate, that’s the active chemical and that’s been linked to cancer and autism and Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and a long list of things.

Fitz: Lovely.

Rick: Monsanto has been under fire for that for a long time and obviously what we want to do is be aware that that can get into the aquifers and can get into our ground water and it is something we need to protect ourselves from. There is another bad guy called atrazine. You’ve got not only the water that you’re using to keep the greens healthy, you’ve also got irrigation water for the surrounding landscape and all of that.
I just wanted to make people aware that it generally is not a life threatening issue but it is something you need to protect yourself from and you’ve got a really effective whole house water filtration and salt free water conditioning system you can knock that stuff out and not have to worry about it at all. Just one thing to be aware of and keep your eye on it, there are more and more things and reports coming out about these different pesticides and herbicides that they’re nasty stuff.

Fitz: Makes sense and you know, also don’t pour chemicals, paint, paint thinner, all kinds of junk down drains or down your drain or even in the streets, in the gutters. You know someone flicks a cigarette, they don’t realize that thing does not disintegrate, it just goes and gets washed into our water ways, eventually gets washed into the ocean and all this stuff ends up somewhere so please let’s all be good citizens and think about what we do before we do it.

Rick: Yeah that’s an absolutely great point, so I hope everybody thinks about this right before they get that hole in one on the golf course today.

Fitz: There you go baby. All right Rick, always a pleasure and thank you for keeping us informed as to all the various things again. You really makes us think about our drinking water and you know we take everything for granted of course it seems, this day and age. You know you go to the faucet, you turn a knob but boy thinking about what’s in that, where it comes from and your health at risk, that’s all the more reason to explore getting your own crystal clear home total property water filtration system. 346-4850 give Rick a call or go online crystalclearhome.com and he’ll answer all your questions and explain it. It’s a great amazing system, Wendy and I love it and we encourage you to talk to Rick, get all the details and make the decision for yourself. 346-4850. Always a pleasure Mr. Allan.

Rick: Thank you very much Mr. Fitz. We will talk to you very soon.

Fitz: All right Rick make it a great day, magnificent Monday.

Rick: All right, you too. Appreciate it.

Fitz: Enjoy. Thank you so much.

Rick: Bye bye.

Chemical-Off-Gassing-with-PEX

Health Concerns About Plastic PEX Tubing

We have been very concerned about the transition from standard copper plumbing to plastic PEX tubing in homes. There are continual reports of potential health risks, and aspects of off-gassing, that are becoming more and more public.

We are disturbed by the use of plastic and the exposure of families especially young children to these potentially carcinogenic chemicals. The tubing is off-gassing, creating bio-film internally and some types of PEX have lower burst pressures after they get brittle.

PEX Plastic Tubing off-gassing

We are not fans of the PEX Tubing because of these concerns, and it is clear from all independent reports that nobody really knows what the health challenges are going to be with long term use.  Check out the links below to three articles that support the basis of our concerns.  Read them and form your own opinion.

Remove Chromium 6 From Household Water The Easy Way Today Fitz November 3 2016

Fitz: One of the many carcinogens and weird stuff that’s in our drinking water. And you hear my friend Rick Allen from Crystal Clear Home talk about his amazing water filtration system. Rick knows a lot about what’s going on with our drinking water. He’s back with us this morning. Good morning Rick.

Rick: Good morning Fitz. How are you today?

Fitz: I’m spectacular. There was an article in the paper talking about how they’re trying to find a more economical way to be able to get the chromium 6 out of the drinking water but if you have a Crystal Clear Home water filtration system, you can cross that worry off the list.

Rick: Yeah that’s absolutely true. The chromium 6 thing seems to be at the top of the news right now. You know in our valley, it’s my understanding that better than 90% of the wells are showing chromium either at or above the legal limits. It’s an interesting metal situation and that’s both naturally occurring and it’s also a waste byproduct of industry. That’s the big Erin Brockovich thing. It’s very interesting watching what happens in our world because Erin came out with her movie in 2000 which kind of exposed the whole big problem with chromium 6 being actually dumped in the local ground water and causing birth defects and a lot of really serious problems.

Fitz: I did not remember that that was chromium 6 that was causing that.

Rick: Yeah. That’s the chromium 6 issue. What’s interesting with her is that it, well with the whole process is that it took from 2000 until just about a year or so ago for the Feds to actually create a legal limit for chromium 6. So up until that point, there were no standards in terms of how much chromium 6 was allowable in our drinking water and in soap. So anyway, they set the standards. Erin was very upset because the standards are 500 times more lenient in the number than what she was seeking was a legal limit for chromium 6, 500 hundred times less than what she had wanted. Admittedly, she wanted to get to a much more perfect number, but yeah, this heavy metals, as you noted, the articles are coming out. If you’re getting your CVWD water bill or you’re getting any of these different water bills, they’re talking about the problem. They haven’t been very vocal about it until recently because now they’re getting called upon to work toward meeting this new federal standard. It’s going to take quite a bit of time. The other big one in the valley, of course, is arsenic which is naturally occurring. And actually, all up and down across the California too.

Fitz: When you say naturally occurring, where does arsenic, how does that get formed in the water?

Rick: You know, I don’t wanna go above my pay grade in terms of that. As water runs through the different pathways and rivers and different areas and gets to our locations, it strips things. As you know, water is the world’s greatest solvent. And so arsenic is naturally occurring in the rock and in different things. It’s also in the aquifers and the lower levels of the rock down there. Then, what happens is obviously it dissolves and gets introduced into our water. So you know these things are things to keep an eye on but in terms of your and my home and our health and our wellbeing, it just makes sense to put up a very effective barrier and, as you said, check those things off the list as far as worries. We’ve got enough worries with the political climate. We don’t need to worry about what water we’re drinking.

Fitz.: So to wrap it up Rick, bottom line is I have – Wendy and I have the Crystal Clear Home water filtration system. We love it. We can drink from any faucet in our home worry free and we’re not gonna be ingesting all of that chlorine and arsenic and chromium 6 when we take a bath or a shower. It just…there’s a great peace of mind. You hair feels nice and clean and smooth. Your coffee tastes pure and good. The total property thing is totally, totally great. You’re so helpful in spreading and sharing the information and I know that you have heard so many people say that Rick is great to deal with. So we encourage our listeners, if we’ve got your attention on this, this is a really cool filtration system that Rick has. Once again, it’s above my pay scale to be able to describe exactly how that works. It’s not a salt system. Give Rick a call, 346-4850. He’ll explain it to you. Basically, maintenance free. I mean it’s amazing, 346-4850. Ask for Rick Allen. He’ll get back to you and find out how you can get your own Crystal Clear Home water filtration system. Rick, always a pleasure.

Rick: I appreciate you Fitz. It’s great talking to you today.

Fitz: You too. Thank you so much. Make it a terrific Tuesday and don’t forget to set your clocks back this weekend when you go to bed Saturday night, we get to grab an extra hour’s worth of shut eye.

Water Filter Expert Rick Allen interviewed by Fitz on CV 104.3 radio in Palm Desert CA

Fitz: Rick, you are the water expert. I’ve never known anyone who knows more about what’s going with our water and the drinking water and the water tablet and all that stuff and everything that going on with what we hear about the pharmaceuticals and the chromium-6 and the arsenic in our drinking water, that’s why Wendy and I are such big proponents and such happy customers of yours with our own Crystal Clear Home Water Filtration System. Our audience has heard me talking about this for years and people who are out and about go, “Man you talk about that. I hear you talking about that water system, does it really work?” Yes and you’re going to talk about the salt thing a little bit this morning.

Rick: Yeah, I thought I’d just touch on, try to educate everybody out there a little bit on what the cutting edge thing is with regard to hard water problems, everybody deals with those and unlike the health related things that you and I are very, very concerned about. One big part of doing a total property or a good water system for a home is to address hard water problems. We all see that, the scale that builds up on our shower heads or the munged up dishes and things that come out of the dishwasher all spotted, our water heaters are going out and all those things. That’s caused by hard water.

I thought what I would do is kind of just give everybody a thumbnail view of what’s going on, on the hard water situation and what’s happening with the technology. To start with that I think I’ll tell everybody what a natural soft water is. Fitz, when we’re in New York or we’re in Seattle or we’re in Oregon we experience this. Natural soft water is a water that has a low volume of calcium in the water. Calcium is the mineral that creates the majority of hard water problems. Natural soft water simply has a very low level of calcium in it and doesn’t create problems as far as all the things we just listed. To go a step further about 60 or 70 years ago we came up with a technology to create a man made soft water and so a lot of our listeners probably have confusion regarding natural soft water versus man made soft water.

Man made soft water is made by an old fashioned water softener that uses salt. The difference between natural soft water and the water from a water softener is very simply the salt. A water softener strips the incoming calcium out of the water and replaces it with a greater volume of salt. That creates all kinds of issues but first and foremost it makes the water feel artificially soft, it’s kind of slippery, you know that feeling where you can’t the soap off or get the shampoo out of your hair and you’re rinsing for hours. That is directly related to a man-made soft water. In a man-made soft water situation with a water softener we’re adding salt into the incoming water in the home, it creates problems for watering plants. It creates problems for cooking and drinking. It creates problems for swimming pools you don’t ever want to have that in the swimming pool.

What we’re doing is cutting edge technology at Pure Elements and Crystal Clear and we approach this hard water problem in an environmentally sound manner, cutting edge. What we do is instead of stripping the calcium out which you and I want to be consuming in our drinking water and replacing it with salt, we literally alter it permanently to make it unavailable to create the hard water problems that it normally would. We’re able to address the same set of problems but again without the salt. Salt free technology is also been around for decades but we have a proprietary component that we’ve had since 1982 that does an exceptional job of reducing the scale build up on the shower head and giving good results in the dishwasher and laundry and being phenomenal actually for swimming pools and for landscape and irrigation systems.

I just wanted to kind of give everybody a bird’s eye view of that. You’re either going to have natural soft water like you might find in New York, if you take a shower there the soap rinses off squeaky clean and you don’t have any of these. You’re not fighting it. You’re going to have manmade soft water and you’re going to have that by stripping out the good calcium and putting salt in its place or you’re going to take advantage of the latest technology that we’ve had actually for a number of years and we’re literally going to alter the state of the calcium and leave it in the water but not have the problems that all the salt creates. I know you and Wendy experience that in your house and I know for a fact that you can get the soap off in the shampoo out, that’s why you look so good.

Fitz: No doubt about it baby. 346-4850 get your own Crystal Clear Home Water Filtration System. Rick is the best, he really knows his stuff and this is a simple process, there is no maintenance. They come out and check it like every 5 years or whatever. Everything that Rick says is true, I can attest to. 346-4850, give Rick a call or go to crystalclearhome.com. Get more details online and get your own crystal clear home water filtration system. More important than ever to make sure you’re careful with what you ingest, what goes through your pores when you shower and bath. This just takes all those worries and all those concerns out so you can have a healthy lifestyle and not be concerned for your family and your kids growing up, they don’t need all that stuff at this stage of the game. Give Rick a call he’ll get back with you 346-4850. Once again happy Veteran’s Day, rick. Thanks always a pleasure.

Rick: Stay safe Fitz. You listeners out there, you guys need to go check out Fitz’s single American Dream on YouTube or on Facebook, that’s so appropriate today, that tune that you’ve done so I hope everybody gets a chance to catch it.

Fitz: Thanks so much Rick, I appreciate it. In reversal Rick is an excellent drummer and he’s got a great band in the OC called The Pinchme Band that you got to check out when you head over to the coast a well. Rick thank you so much, always a pleasure, have a great weekend and we’ll catch up soon.

Rick: You too, thanks very much Fitz have a wonderful one.

Fitz: You too man. Thank you so much.

Rick: Bye bye.

Fitz September 15 2016 – The Five Important Points A Water Filter Must Perform

Fitz Sept 15 2016 – The Five Important Points A Water Filter Must Perform.

We’ve got a perfect blend of music. As you know, I take you genre by genre all over the music spectrum, great music on the way. But first, I want to reconnect with our friend Rick Allen of Pure Elements. It’s the parent company of Crystal Clear Home, that great water filtration system you’ve heard me talking about for years.

I love mine and it’s so great to shower and drink water from every faucet in our house. The other day — it’s so funny — Wendy was in the bathroom and she had a cup of water that was out. I came in and I said, “I’ll go get you some water,” and she said, “You don’t have to go get me some water, I’ve got the water right here from these faucets.”

I just had a brain freeze and I forgot about that. Anyway, that’s my long introduction for Rick Allen. Good morning, Rick.

Rick: Good morning, Fitz. How are you?

Jim: I’m great.

Rick: It sounds like you’re doing great.

Jim: I’m doing spectacular, thank you so much. It’s a beautiful day in our desert paradise and we are always thrilled to go ahead and spread the word about Crystal Clear Home, the great water filtration system. Your company, Pure Elements, keeping us all healthy and up-to-date on what our water system is here in the desert. You’re going to go briefly run down the five points of the benefits of this system for us this morning.

Rick: Absolutely. I think it’s important to remind everybody in our valley what they should be looking for when they delve into addressing their water conditioners on their total property. I’ll just run down quickly the five really important things.

My biggest passion, as you’ve known for years, is getting the chemicals and things out of the bath and shower water and out of the home living environment. These different things, many of which are carcinogenic, they are aerosol. We take them in through our pores and into our lungs and that’s the greatest area of exposure we have to water-borne problems.

Number one, you want to eliminate those things, both from your bathing experience and your entire household environment because they migrate out into the living space and hang out for a few hours. That’s been my biggest passion for well over 30 years. The second thing is drinking water.

You should be able to get good quality drinking water without any salt added and with the natural minerals that we have in the water left intact, the helpful minerals, but with the chemicals and heavy metals, as well as pharmaceuticals and things addressed so that water tastes great and is slightly alkaline actually, which a lot of our healthcare longevity guys love today.

I’m not a super fan of the high, high alkaline waters on a regular basis, but I think it’s great to be able to grab this out of your faucet somewhere at a slightly alkaline level of maybe 7.6 to 7.8 on that. Hard water issues are just a pain in the neck. You should be able to address those things. As you know, we feature products that address that inside the home without the use of any salt.

high alkaline water may not be good

We’re doing that in an environmentally sound manner which fits right in line with the first two things we were talking about. No slippery feeling, nothing harmful for the environment and perfect ability to water houseplants and do all the different things that you want to do with your water inside the house.

You move to the total property side of things, so item number four is the swimming pools and water features, and fountains and things. There is no perfect fix because every one of these is a piece of art actually, but we’re very effective at reducing staining at the water line as you know from your previous pool…

Jim: It’s so ugly, that white, that salt, that leeching looks so, you know.

Rick: It does and just as importantly from the standpoint of protecting your wallet, we want to protect the infrastructure. The pumps and the recirculating system, and all of those different things from the damage that the hard water creates. That has to be done in a salt-free manner.

A traditional water softener will destroy a pool, so be very careful as you delve into the total property things. Make sure you’re dealing with experts that can do that without the use of salt. Last but not least, we benefit landscape and irrigation systems, and all the plant life.

What I love is to go through one of our golf communities, drive down the street, and you’ve got very similar homes with very similar landscaping. You see a house that has our system and everything is going crazy. Gardeners are trying to keep up. It’s all bright green and luscious and the rest of the homes look not so much.

That’s because our salt-free water conditioning approach allows you to use less water, less fertilizer and really benefits and promotes the growth and the vibrancy of the plant life. Those are the five things. You know, chemical-free bathing.

Jim: It’s great, the benefits. People ask Wendy and me all the time when we’re out and about, “Does that really work?” I always say a big Y-E-S, it most definitely does. Now, let me ask you a question. What university of water did you go to anyway?

Rick: It’s the Rick University of Hard Knocks of 37 years of learning. I’m connected with a lot of the very top engineers in the industry and I have access to a lot of guys that are much, much, much more deeply educated in it than I am. I’m just very lucky to be able to have learned a lot from those guys along the way.

Jim: What got you interested Rick in water? What got you interested in really delving into learning about it?

Rick: I had always wanted to own my own company and we looked at a whole bunch of different options when I was in the middle of my college years in 1979. Actually, my father was instrumental in starting the office coffee service industry where people bring out a coffee brewer and then, they supply you all of the ancillary things from coffee to tea to water.

He actually introduced water as something that was important to offices way back in the day. I kind of grew up in a water family. I guess you could just say that we are the Allen’s Waterman’s family.

Jim: There you go. Rick Allen, always a pleasure. I knew there was a backstory there. We encourage everyone to get in touch with you and if we’ve piqued your attention, call Rick. Crystal Clear Water, it’s everything he says. I just can’t testify enough. 346-4850, find out how you can get your own Crystal Clear Home water filtration system. 346-4850. Rick, always a pleasure.

Rick: Thank you very much for taking my call, Fitz.

Jim: Always a pleasure. Thanks for educating us about the water situation and thanks for keeping us updated, and thanks for keeping us healthy, man.

Rick: Best I can do.

Jim: There you go, baby. Make it a terrific Thursday.

Rick: You too, I’ll talk to you very soon, Fitz.

Jim: Thank you so much, Rick.

Here is How to Set a Backflush Time on Pure Elements Water System

This is an instructional video on how to set the time of day that your Pure Elements Whole House Water System backwashes, as well as the number of days between the backwashing process.

To get into that programming mode, you simply hold the Set and the up arrow until the display changes to a time. This time is the time of day when your whole house water filtration system backwashes. In this case, it’s at 2:00 a.m., which is our default. You can leave it there, or let’s take it up to 3:00 a.m. So the hour’s flashing. You tap the Set button once. Now the minutes are flashing. Let’s make it go at 3:30, so 3:30 a.m. You tap the Set button one more time. This is the number of days between backwash cycles. Our default for this in the current drought condition is 10 days, so you want to have that set at 10 days, unless you’d like to change it for your personal preference.

When you tap the Set button and it goes back to displaying the time of day, you have accomplished your goal of setting the time of day for your backwash and how many days in between.

How To Set The Time When Pure Elements Unit Is Flashing

This is a video designed to show you how to set the time on your Pure Elements HealthyHome Solution Water System.

When you first plug it in, you will note that the display is flashing. You need to hold the “Set” button for approximately three seconds, until only the hour is flashing, and then take the hour, using the up or down arrows, to the appropriate time of day. Tap the “Set” button once, and the minutes are flashing. Take the minutes to the appropriate time of day. Be sure when you set the hour that you pay attention to the p.m. arrow. So when it’s lit, it’s 3 p.m. in this case. If that arrow were not there, it would be 3 a.m. Tap the “Set” button and the display goes solid, and you have effectively set the time on your Pure Elements Whole House Water Filtration and Salt-Free Conditioning System.

Epoxy lining lawsuit pinholes (4)

Epoxy Pipe Lining May Not Be The Best Choice To Prevent Pinhole Leaks

Hi, this is Rick from Pure Elements. I wanted to talk to you a minute about epoxy pipe lining that is being considered an alternative to stop pinhole leaks in existing homes.

There are several issues with epoxy lining.

The first is there are concerns about MTBEs and BPAs being given off by the resin. There are several different mixtures, and the jury is out as to whether or not this could possibly create a negative health effect.

The second thing is epoxy pipe linings do not always coat evenly. So when you get a spot that doesn’t get coated, you instantly have a leak situation. The epoxy lining companies guarantee that they’ll come back and fix it, but that’s what they end up doing is coming back and fixing it a lot.

Another thing is the longevity on epoxy lining is definitely affected by the chloramines in the water, and over time it will break down and shatter like glass.  It will clog shower heads, fixtures, and everything else, and actually come out in shards that are not appealing for either drinking or consuming.  And a lotta times when we’ve reached that point, the only answer is to completely repipe the house, because you can’t get it all out.

So in our opinion, epoxy lining are lower down on the choices that you have to prevent pinhole leaks.

Epoxy lining uneven coating of copper pipe
Uneven epoxy lining can be a problem. East Irvine, CA is a place where pinholes can be found that epoxy may not be able to fix very well.

Water Purification Systems – Ladera Ranch CA – Needs Chloramines Removed

Hi, this is Rick from Pure Elements and I wanted to talk to you for a moment here about the plague that we have in Southern California.

Chloramines are being used to disinfect our water, and in a short story, they’re actually eating the copper pipes from the inside out.  You need to seek very carefully to find a filter that is capable of removing the chloramines.

water purification system ladera ranch ca

A good chloramine filter has very special media in it in a precise order, and we’re the experts at that. We can actually test below detectable levels.  No chloramine is getting through our systems, and this is a key thing in preventing pinhole pipe leaks.

If you’re concerned about the epidemic pinhole leak problem in South Orange County and you live in any of these cities: Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, El Toro, Ladera Ranch, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, or San Juan Capistrano, you need to take control immediately and address your water chemistry to protect the copper plumbing infrastructure in your home as well as your family’s health. So please give us a call at the number below and we’ll be happy to help you out.
